House Beautiful’s 2024 Whole Home Project took a fresh turn with its first-ever vacation retreat, set in the scenic Asheville, North Carolina’s Blue Ridge Mountains. Designed to inspire rest, connection, and elevated everyday living, the home brought together some of the country’s top interior designers to reimagine what a modern getaway could be. Every room, from the open-air kitchen to the serene bedrooms, were crafted with wellness, flexibility, and outdoor-indoor flow in mind, making the retreat a blueprint for luxurious yet livable design.

One standout feature was the home’s connection to nature, emphasized by expansive outdoor living areas and thoughtful material choices. Feeney’s DesignRail® Modern railing system played a supporting role on the deck and interior staircase, blending safety with clean, horizontal lines that enhanced, rather than distracts from the overall interior and exterior design. The result; a vacation home that feels grounded, modern, and tailored for today’s design-forward homeowner.
