Written in the Stars
Project engineers at the Kennedy Space Center in Merritt Island, Florida, were seeking a railing solution that was at once attractive and durable. They were tasked with installing railing along a 450 foot ramp and pathway that takes park visitors through the historic Rocket Garden, which winds past rockets from the Mercury, Gemini and Apollo space missions. Due to a limited footprint, it was crucial that the railing offer an unimpeded view of the Rocket Garden and surrounding area. The engineers selected Feeney CableRail, which perfectly complemented the gently curving railings that encompass the pathway.
Going Natural
A local design firm was hired to revitalize the atrium of the Interpretative Center at the Myrick Hixson EcoPark in La Crosse, Wisconsin. One of the additions to the atrium was a round timber staircase leading up to a newly constructed mezzanine area. Since the woodwork throughout the center uses native tree species such as ironwood, American elm, and red and white oak, the designers wanted to ensure the railing they chose wouldn’t detract from the natural elements in the atrium. They opted to install Feeney’s 3/16” stainless steel CableRail assembly on the stairs and mezzanine, which allowed the organic design to take center stage.
